If you are gluten free, you know it’s tough to find tasty bread options let alone a pretzel! If you aren’t gluten free, here is a great switch you can make for a healthier option! Now you can have a salty gluten free treat without the guilt. These didn’t last even 24 hours in our house!
Ingredients
- 3.5 Cups Gluten Free Flour
- 1 1/3 warm Coconut Milk
- 2 TBSP Coconut Sugar
- 1 TBSP Coconut Oil
- 2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- pinch of Sea Salt plus additional to top
Directions
- Stir all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Transfer to mixer with a dough hook and set to speed 2.
- Slowly add the wet ingredients.
- Mix until dough if formed.
- Transfer to a clean surface and knead with your hands for 5 mins until a smooth dough ball is formed.
- Place dough in a bowl and cover for 30 mins.
- When dough is finished, place a frying pan on the stove with just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan (very thin layer) and set the heat to low.
- Preheat oven to 365.
- Take a golf ball sized piece of dough, shape into a rope, and twist to make a pretzel, or any shape you like!
- Next put each pretzel into the pan to fry until a nice golden brown bottom is formed.
- Once you have about 5 – 6 pretzels in the pan, add a 1/4 cup of water and put a lid on the pan to steam.
- Once all the water has been absorbed, remove the lid and transfer you pretzels to a baking sheet.
- The pretzels will be very sticky from the steam bath. Add salt and put in the oven for 25 mins or until they are golden brown.
