If you are gluten free, you know it’s tough to find tasty bread options let alone a pretzel! If you aren’t gluten free, here is a great switch you can make for a healthier option! Now you can have a salty gluten free treat without the guilt. These didn’t last even 24 hours in our house!

Ingredients

  • 3.5 Cups Gluten Free Flour
  • 1 1/3 warm Coconut Milk
  • 2 TBSP Coconut Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Coconut Oil
  • 2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • pinch of Sea Salt plus additional to top

Directions

  1. Stir all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Transfer to mixer with a dough hook and set to speed 2.
  3. Slowly add the wet ingredients.
  4. Mix until dough if formed.
  5. Transfer to a clean surface and knead with your hands for 5 mins until a smooth dough ball is formed.
  6. Place dough in a bowl and cover for 30 mins.
  7. When dough is finished, place a frying pan on the stove with just enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan (very thin layer) and set the heat to low.
  8. Preheat oven to 365.
  9. Take a golf ball sized piece of dough, shape into a rope, and twist to make a pretzel, or any shape you like!
  10. Next put each pretzel into the pan to fry until a nice golden brown bottom is formed.
  11. Once you have about 5 – 6 pretzels in the pan, add a 1/4 cup of water and put a lid on the pan to steam.
  12. Once all the water has been absorbed, remove the lid and transfer you pretzels to a baking sheet.
  13. The pretzels will be very sticky from the steam bath. Add salt and put in the oven for 25 mins or until they are golden brown.
